Marketing campaign for 3D presentation in online shops

Phasmatic offers "Phasma3D Viewer," an interactive, customizable, and configurable tool for 3D product presentation in online shops. The goal of this challenge is to design effective marketing campaigns in different channels to demonstrate and convey to customers the transformative power of 3D product presentation for their online shops. This is important for both physical-to-virtual products (e.g. apparel, furniture) as well as digital-to-physical products (e.g. 3D printing, interior designs), and we are looking to utilize market research, trend analysis, and competitor evaluations.

Initial Problem Description

3D presentation in e-shops is a relatively new addition. With ground-breaking technology solutions like photorealistic visualization, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), customers and businesses are struggling to discover the strengths and opportunities of incorporating 3D presentations for their products in their online shops. The game-changing feature of 3D presentation is its interactive, replayable, and personalized nature which is hard to convey through traditional static content like text, images and video. We want a team that will help us better understand our target audience and customer needs through a market analysis and help us design marketing campaigns that can clearly communicate the possibilities of 3D to customer and business audiences. This will require designing a series of targeted campaign materials (e.g. videos, presentations or images) as well as promotional 3D experiences around different customer personas and industries for our website and social media.

Context

Our software solution helps brands build more attractive and functionally complete platforms for closing the gap between physical purchases and online digital marketing solutions showing potential customers what a product will look like and stimulating demand for it. Furthermore, it assists clients, using product customization interfaces, enjoy an, as accurate as possible rendition of the final product, especially in scenarios where capturing specific target spaces is important (e.g. jewelry, watches, furniture, appliances, and interior design solutions) in order to convey and complement an object’s utility to the buyer. The Unique Selling Point of the Phasma3D Viewer is its photorealistic capabilities that go beyond the competition and offer the best digital representation of the product as closely as possible to its real counterpart, and the customizability of the viewer that allows for tailored and personalized experiences for our customers. We are currently perfectly positioned to operate and serve all kinds of 3D digital twins that are readily available to our customers or help them digitize their products. The next step is to design marketing campaigns that will allow us to reach new customers in the wider e-commerce sector. We are looking to collaborate on the design of a marketing campaign that will include promoting the Phasmatic brand and demos targeted to specific market segments.

3D technologies are a key facilitator for the digitization of the whole product lifecycle. 3D contributes to responsible production practices (30% fewer costs with virtual prototyping), reduces waste, promotes sustainable resource use, and supports innovation & infrastructure development. 3D assets emphasize UX and ergonomic considerations through rapid digital prototyping, leading to products that better meet the needs of end-users. 3D visualization is already a core part of Industry 4.0. Technologies and processes like CAD and BIM that rely on 3D assets are being adopted from the conceptualization and design phase to product presentation and marketing. Products are better managed with 3D ensuring sustainability. 3D visualization aids in creating designs that are accessible to a broader audience. Within online shops, 3D virtual try-on facilitates inclusivity, engagement and increases conversion rate by up to 24%.

Input

The team will receive a detailed description of our technology, capabilities, and performance of our products. Team members will be given access to 3D tools and concepts for the creation of 3D marketing content. We will share information and insights from our ongoing market analysis and user requirements from current customers early on. We will also provide and discuss successful pilots and projects to facilitate students in understanding our ideal customer, current trends, and target audience profiles.

Expectations

Through trend analysis and market research, we expect to get an up-to-date report on the current and future trends of 3D technologies for e-Commerce. We are looking to identify new customers and expand to new audiences through the design of effective, novel and tailored marketing campaigns. We are hoping for clear communication and to be able to be informed throughout the process. We are very enthusiastic about exploring novel ideas that will take advantage of 3D technologies for creating powerful digital marketing content.

A basic understanding of 3D technologies and concepts is welcomed but in no way required.
