Medical devices advertisement according to MDR

Desired outcome

Internet advertising targeted at hospitals is restricted by stringent regulations. Any violation of advertising requirements for medical devices, systems, or procedure packs can lead to financial penalties ranging from PLN 50,000 to PLN 5 million.

Initial Problem Description

The advertising of medical devices is subject to strict regulations with severe penalties for non-compliance. There is hardly any possibility to show the products to professionals. Advertising during conferences or in press is expensive and it is hard to direct the professional to the website. Also products not intended for use by laypeople should not be advertised.

Context

The Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 and connected regulations do not allow to advertise a product showing it advantage over other products. That limits the possibilities to inform the professionals about the products in other way than during conferences. With limited resources it is hard to reach doctors and nurses.

Connection to cross-cutting areas

The Medical Device Regulation has restricted market opportunities for small and medium enterprises in several areas, making it challenging for a small company like ours to connect with professionals and showcase our offerings. As a result, wholesalers often choose to supply lower-cost products from the Far East, which makes it difficult for us to demonstrate the unique advantages of our products.

Input

We have a website and product catalog but cannot afford to hire sales representatives. Our knowledge of internet advertising options is limited. According to Polish Act on Medical Devices a corporate advertisement of a medical company presenting its history, activities and achievements, as well as its product portfolio in general, will also not be considered a drug advertisement if the subject of the advertisement are not in fact specific products.

Expectations

We are looking for an internet advertising strategy that promotes our devices in full compliance with the Medical Device Regulation, while sparking interest in our products. The ads should highlight that our products are made by a small family company with over 35 years of experience, dedicated to quality and safety, and manufactured entirely at our main facility in Poland.

Desired Team Profile

We're looking for a team of dynamic, young professionals with expertise in creating impactful online content and reaching targeted audiences. Additionally, we seek individuals who understand regulations, can interpret them effectively, and propose solutions that ensure compliance while driving results.

Additional Information

We are a small, family-owned company with a strong foundation in technology and a deep commitment to innovation. While we have extensive technical expertise, we recognize that our experience in advertising is limited, and we are seeking to expand our understanding and presence in this area to grow our business effectively.
