Optimization of energy consumption in production.

Desired outcome

We want to learn about the possibilities of reducing electricity consumption in production. This is related to the optimization of emissions.

Initial Problem Description

We want applications and energy meters that collect data and present it in a transparent and up-to-date way. This will allow you to detect devices operating in a sub-optimal range and select non-energy-saving devices. Selecting such devices will allow you to consider specific offers for the devices, and consumption data will allow you to verify the profitability of the investment.

Context

Due to the number of devices and variable labor consumption characteristics, it is practically impossible to select devices that do not operate optimally in terms of energy consumption. Moreover, some devices do not have to work all the time. Random measurements of device consumption provide too little data and are too time-consuming. We need to narrow down this data.

Connection to cross-cutting areas

Our challenge fits perfectly into industry 4.0 and digitalization, because we slowly present data in a transparent way on an ongoing basis for decision-makers. Constant and automatic supervision of electricity consumption will allow you to consider the option of replacing devices and optimizing the time or parameters of its operation.

Input

We are not familiar with current solutions for measuring electricity consumption in many points at once and integrating data in one accessible and transparent place. Therefore, we expect a solution proposal so that a sample application can be created to meet our needs and can be developed. This will allow for the expansion of production capacity and optimization of energy consumption in the future.

Expectations

We expect meters to be selected to measure energy consumption in many places at the same time and an application in which automatically collected data would be presented. We are open to proposals to solve the challenge. Our priority is to reduce the company's electricity consumption and emission intensity.

Desired Team Profile

In our opinion, the team should consist of people experienced in performing energy measurements. People from the IT industry could also find their way in this project in the context of preparing an application that would need to be implemented in the company's local network that would present the collected data.

Additional Information

We do not know any solutions available on the market in the context of measuring energy consumption in many places at the same time, and collecting this data in an accessible way. We would like the solution to be tailored to our requirements so that it can be expanded/configured in the future without infringing copyrights.
