Desired outcome
Knowledge base on problems and their solutions from the tooling and processing industry in the field of injection molding technology. The knowledge base is to be developed based on information found in social networks, blogs and thematic websites. Tools using artificial intelligence algorithms are also to be used to compile the knowledge.
Initial Problem Description
The goal of the challenge is to develop a knowledge base that will allow for the final creation of an application that will allow for effective solving of engineering problems of users from the tool and processing industry related to the technology of injection molding of thermoplastics. The future application should have the possibility of development by users, so that the knowledge base and available solutions will constantly grow.
Context
In the tool and processing industry related to the technology of injection molding of thermoplastics, problems and issues to be solved appear every day. The problems concern the design of moldings, tool construction, technological process, industrial metrology, process automation, use, servicing and exploitation of finished products. The problems concern processing machines and their components, production tools, material solutions and other engineering and technical aspects.
Connection to cross-cutting areas
The challenge being solved is related to the areas of circular economy, overall sustainability, industry 4.0 and digitalization. The tool and processing industry and injection molding technology for thermoplastics is one of the dominant sectors of the economy, where, due to its great interdisciplinarity, it has to solve problems of different specialization and size every day.
Input
Based on the knowledge and my own experiences, my own scenario was developed, which can be passed on to the team implementing the challenge. There is no problem in changing the scenario or proposing a completely different solution. Every solution and every idea is good, which will move the challenge one step forward.
Expectations
Expectations are to create an interdisciplinary knowledge base related to solving problems in the tool and processing industry of injection molding technology of thermoplastics. The collected and developed data and information will be used to create a functional application that will be used to solve problems, but also to develop for users.
Desired Team Profile
There are no limits to having knowledge and skills. Of course, having knowledge in the field of polymer processing and injection molding technology will be beneficial and will facilitate the implementation of the challenge. The interdisciplinarity of the team will allow the implementation of the challenge with a universal view. Diversity will have a positive impact on the course of action and the achievement of success.
Additional Information
Problems with the technology of injection molding of thermoplastics, which cause damage to the injection molds.
Injection molding of thermoplastics to one of the most common methods of polymer processing. Detection of the effects of precision, speed and the ability to produce products with minds shaping in large series. One of the main goals is the problems related to the operation of injection molds. These molds are not only a source in production, but also are used as utility molds, which can ensure production quality, process efficiency and operating costs.
Characteristics of injection molds: Injection molds are tools made of high-quality steel or other materials, such as beryllium copper alloys or modern composites. They consist of a number of elements, including core, forming cavities, operating systems, sprues and ejectors. During operation, there are effects of extreme conditions, such as high pressure, variable temperature and contact with chemicals, thermoplastic material molds.
Examples of injection mold problems:1. Abrasion of molding surfaces, 2. Corrosion, 3. Material fatigue, 4. Thermal deformation problems, 5. Cooling problems, 6. Wear of components.
Potential problems: Loss of product quality, Increased transport, Production downtime, Loss of competitiveness, Material selection, Protective coatings, Mold design optimization, Regular maintenance, Process monitoring.
Problems with the destruction of injection molds are a significant challenge for thermoplastic injection molding technology. In order to meet the growing market requirements, the application company in high-quality materials, modern technologies and effective motion power strategies. The right solution for injection mold management, which not only increases their efficiency, but also contributes to the improvement of product quality and reduction of production costs, which is crucial for market competitiveness.
