Desired outcome
Development of an AI-powered recommendation system using ComfyUI to guide scientists in identifying suitable EU funding opportunities for their deeptech innovations, integrated into a web-based platform with conversational interface capabilities.
Initial Problem Description
The current landscape of EU funding presents significant challenges for scientists and researchers seeking to commercialize their deeptech innovations. Three critical issues need to be addressed:
First, scientists often struggle to identify the most appropriate funding programs for their innovations due to the complex matrix of requirements across different EU funding schemes. This results in mismatched applications and wasted resources.
Second, there is no automated system that can evaluate an innovation's readiness levels (technological, business, and overall innovation) and match them with suitable funding opportunities. The current manual evaluation process is time-consuming and often inconsistent.
Third, deeptech innovations require varying levels of funding based on their sector and development stage, but there is no systematic way to recommend funding amounts based on sector-specific benchmarks and historical data.
We seek to develop a solution that will:
1) Create a web-based platform hosting a ComfyUI-powered system that can engage in intelligent dialogue with scientists about their innovations.
2) Implement an AI recommendation engine that can:
* Assess technology maturity levels
* Evaluate business development progress
* Gauge overall innovation readiness
* Consider sector-specific requirements
* Factor in existing track records
3) Build a user-friendly conversational interface that can systematically gather information about the innovation through targeted questions and provide specific, actionable funding recommendations.
The solution should be developed as a standalone system using ComfyUI's flexible architecture, capable of interfacing with selected LLM models that will be calibrated for EU funding advisory purposes. The platform should be accessible to external users and provide clear, actionable recommendations based on the collected information.
Expected outputs include:
* A functional web platform hosting the ComfyUI system
* An implemented conversational interface
* Integration with appropriate LLM models
* A recommendation engine calibrated for EU funding programs
* Documentation of the system architecture and implementation
This Challenge requires expertise in:
* Web development
* AI/ML implementation
* ComfyUI architecture
* User interface design
* Understanding of EU funding landscapes (training data will be provided)
The project timeframe is set for 8 weeks, with clear milestones and deliverables to be defined during the kick-off meeting.
Context
The digitalization of innovation funding advisory services represents a critical need in the European research and innovation ecosystem. Currently, scientists and researchers developing breakthrough technologies face significant barriers in navigating the complex landscape of EU funding opportunities. This challenge emerges from the increasing need to democratize access to innovation funding by providing automated, intelligent guidance to researchers who may lack experience in commercialization and funding acquisition.
The problem appears in several key contexts:
1) Academic institutions where scientists are developing promising technologies but struggle to identify appropriate funding pathways
2) Research centers and laboratories where breakthrough innovations need strategic guidance for market entry
3) Technology transfer offices seeking to streamline their advisory services
4) Early-stage deeptech startups requiring guidance on EU funding opportunities aligned with their development stage
This initiative directly supports the European Commission's goal of strengthening the innovation ecosystem by improving the efficiency of resource allocation and increasing the success rate of funding applications for meaningful scientific innovations.
Connection to cross-cutting areas
The challenge primarily addresses two of INDUSAC's cross-cutting areas:
1) Digitalization:
* Implements AI-powered automation for funding advisory services
* Creates a digital platform for innovation assessment
* Utilizes advanced natural language processing for user interaction
* Develops intelligent recommendation systems for decision support
2) Industry 4.0:
* Enables data-driven decision making in innovation funding
* Creates intelligent systems for automated assessment
* Implements machine learning for predictive recommendations
* Facilitates digital transformation of innovation support services
