Researching Innovative Approaches for Enhancing Skincare Formulation

Desired outcome

Our goal is to develop optimized skincare formulations that enhance topical efficacy. This will be achieved through researching existing patents and products, identifying weaknesses in current innovations, and investigating the synergistic effects of various active ingredients. The project will focus on analyzing formulation composition, evaluating delivery strategies, and utilizing advanced analytical methods to determine multi-component absorption and penetration without conducting direct absorption testing.

Initial Problem Description

Despite numerous innovations, many skincare formulations still exhibit suboptimal efficacy due to limitations in their design, delivery systems, and assessment methods for absorption. This project seeks to analyze existing patents and products to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. A primary focus will be on researching ingredient combinations—such as vitamins, micro- and macronutrients, hyaluronic acid, and other actives—to optimize their synergistic effects. Additionally, the project will prioritize the search for and evaluation of analytical techniques suitable for assessing the absorption and penetration of multi-component formulations.

Context

In skincare development, understanding and optimizing the absorption of bioactive compounds is critical. However, many formulations fail to achieve their full potential due to inadequate measurement and modeling of ingredient penetration through the skin. Advances in analytical technologies present promising methods for assessing the absorption and interaction of complex formulations. This project will explore these techniques and their application in designing more effective and innovative skincare products.
