Desired outcome

Quipnex is seeking innovative strategies to enhance the sales of its Qx application, a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) product. The challenge involves reimagining and updating the consulting aspect of the sales process to better cater to researchers' needs. The goal is to determine if researchers value and require consulting services, and if so, how to present them in an engaging manner, both in-person for Slovenian clients and digitally for a wider audience.

Initial Problem Description

The challenge revolves around optimizing the consulting component of Qx application sales. Teams are tasked with investigating whether researchers perceive consulting as valuable and, if so, designing an enticing approach. The focus is on aligning the consulting services with the needs of researchers, ultimately leading to increased sales of the Qx application. Emphasis must be placed on identifying the right format for consulting that is not overly complex to implement and resonates well with the audience. The proposed consulting topics are broadly defined, all centering around the management of research data. It is essential to create meaningful thematic clusters and present them in an engaging manner. Ideally, teams should conduct a survey among researchers to identify specific topics of interest or pain points they have yet to address, determining where they lose the most time. As part of the task, teams are encouraged to propose cost-effective solutions for executing these consulting services.

Context

In the realm of scientific research, the demand for effective data stewardship is escalating. Researchers encounter difficulties in fully exploiting research data, adhering to FAIR principles, and adapting to the impending era of open science. Quipnex, being a startup, recognizes these challenges and aims to offer consulting services to enhance researchers' capabilities and guide them towards adoption of the Qx app.
In the Slovenian context, live consultations may be preferred, while for a broader audience, a digital approach—such as pre-recorded videos resembling a mini-school—could be more effective (and manageable). The challenge lies in understanding the diverse needs of researchers and tailoring the consulting format accordingly to make it appealing and valuable. The consulting service needs to differentiate from what institutions will manage to do on their own in the framework of Open Science initiatives.

Connection to cross-cutting areas

This challenge is closely tied to the broader domains of digitalization and Industry 4.0. Integrating an updated consulting model aligns with Industry 4.0 principles by enhancing the digital capabilities of researchers. The solution should seamlessly integrate with the digital landscape, providing a forward-looking approach to consulting.

Input

We have prepared a draft landing page text for the consulting service, originally intended only in Slovenian and likely to be separate from the rest of the Quipnex site. With the new concept of digital consulting, this landing page needs updating and a fresh approach. The updated concept could include strategies on how to attract potential clients to enroll in the program. Ideally, we aim to develop a program that is versatile enough to be adopted by postgraduate schools as mandatory education for their students. Affordability is crucial, requiring a well-crafted program with a minimal investment yet ensuring quality. Subsequently, we can introduce an advanced program involving (1) the analysis of the current state, (2) planning activities for establishing a new research approach, and (3) implementing solutions in stages. However, executing such programs online might pose challenges. We have numerous ideas and are seeking innovative solutions from those who are passionate about improving the quality of scientific work. The task should present a stimulating challenge. We can primarily share our ideas and insights into scientific research, discussing the challenges we have identified. Additionally, we'll introduce the Qx application, highlighting its key features that currently assist researchers in better organizing their work.

Expectations

We anticipate a solution that not only addresses the technical aspects of updating the consulting model but also presents a compelling and engaging approach. The ideal solution should showcase a nuanced understanding of researchers' preferences, striking a harmonious balance between in-person and digital formats. Moreover, the solution should be innovatively designed to attract potential customers, with the ultimate goal of driving Qx application sales. The digital component is expected to be particularly innovative, and we are keen to discover an affordable approach for its seamless implementation.

Desired Team Profile

We are seeking diverse teams with expertise in both technology and marketing. Ideal teams should possess skills in user experience design, digital content creation, and a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges researchers face in adopting new technologies. The ability to blend technical proficiency with creative capabilities is crucial for devising an impactful and appealing consulting solution.

As of now, the Qx application is most suitable for the materials science field, where we have the most experience. However, we have noticed interest in other areas, though we find it challenging to immerse ourselves in different domains at this moment. While familiarity with the specific scientific field is not a prerequisite, it may facilitate a better understanding of the product (Qx application).

Additional Information

Teams are encouraged to explore innovative formats for digital consulting, drawing inspiration from successful models in other industries. Understanding the preferences and behaviors of researchers in Slovenia and beyond will be essential in tailoring the consulting approach to different audiences. This challenge aims to not only enhance the consulting services but also to drive sales of the Qx application through a refined and engaging strategy.
To ensure efficient communication and swift progress, a dedicated Quipnex team member will be assigned to facilitate quick responses and guidance on the project platform. We look forward to a collaborative effort.

About Luka Suhadolnik

Founded in January 2023, Quipnex aims to revolutionize laboratory software, providing a user-friendly solution for research and industrial labs. Stemming from extensive experience in research, development, and production, our founders recognized the crucial role of effective data management in successful research cycles. Without consolidation, interconnection, and traceability, valuable insights can be lost in a sea of random data points.

Our vision for the future of R&D centers on interconnected, automated devices orchestrated by Qx, a comprehensive program serving as project manager, data storer, and analyzer. This innovation is set to elevate knowledge transfer, spur quality innovations, and enhance overall progress.

Currently, we are finalizing the release of Qx app version 1 and initiating sales in Slovenia.
