Desired outcome
As sport and exercise science testing (ergometry) is a new area of performance enhancing, a lot of individuals are hesitant to reach out and book an appointment as they do not understand why it would be beneficial for them to do the testing. This leads to a decreased number of people engaging with our lab, hence why we need the outreach.
Initial Problem Description
We would like to find a way to increase the knowledge of people around the area of our work (sport & exercise science, physiology, ergometry etc) and why it is needed by promoting our services. We believe that once people understand how we can help them improve their performance, the number of interested individuals will increase.
Context
The main challenge is to reach as many individuals as possible by promoting the services we provide and explaining where these services canbe applied. For example, an amateur marathon runner called our laboratory and was asking what testing procedures he can do to ehance his performance. Once explained by us, he booked an appointment, applied our findings and recommendations in his training and re-booked for monitoring. Our goal is for someone like him to not have to call to the lab in order to be able to find out information about the testing procedures. We believe promoting our business through a marketing campaign will reach the above goal.
Connection to cross-cutting areas
Even though there is an element of sustainability and circularity in our area of expertise, it does not apply to their original meaning. The element that exists is that we provide results and guidance after the baseline measurements, the client then applies it to their lifestyle/training/diet regime for a specific amount of time and then we re-test to see if the original baseline measurements have been improved or not. In this way we ensure that the client's resources (time, money, effort etc) are efficiently used.
Input
Most clients that reach out to book an appointment with our lab are foreign (not cypriot) because they are already aware of the work done at our lab from their countries, where this area is more widely known. Basically, the local market is not well-informed about this specific area of services.
Expectations
We expect a series of marketing actions/recommmendations/advice in the form of a booklet/leaflet/infographic that will help us grow our client pool (especially locally) so that a greater number of people will engage with our lab and search for our services. By this greater customer influx we expect our profits to increase.
Desired Team Profile
Any background in marekting, promotion, business administration even psychology we believe it would be helpful. Additional knowledge about our area of expertise might come in handy as it is something pretty specific. As most of our clients are foreign, good knowledge of the english language would be beneficial (even Russian). Good communication skills are important as well.
Additional Information
The competitive situation in Cyprus as of now regarding this sector is peculiar - our lab is the only privately owned, fully equipped sports and exercise laboratory in Cyprus. Testing of this sort can be done at 2-3 universities and at the public research centre but only national teams and elite athletes have access to that. We provide our services to ANYONE without any specific requirements.
