Desired outcome

Project Brains Ltd has developed a disruptive solution that enables SMEs to access in-depth consultation services to help professionals define their business needs accurately, and at the same time matches them to a registered pool of highly-skilled professionals available on a fractional basis, to fill their skills gaps. The aim of this project is to design, for the first time, digital interfaces (for smartphone apps, Web, etc.) that can meet the requirements of business professionals navigating complex problem spaces and searching for the most effective development strategies for their business.

Initial Problem Description

The current resource fulfilment solutions are all built from a supply side perspective. With Gen AI becoming popular, the capabilities have again been enhanced from a resource fulfillment perspective. There has been little or no work on the demand side - this is still driven by the age-old job description methodology. Post our initial alpha launch a few quarters back, we see a need for addressing the demand side by integrating Gen AI and leveraging LLMs to help businesses better qualify their need. We are looking at the technical feasibility along with the UX side to be thought through as a part of this challenge, and identify areas of automation before getting into full scale build.

Context

SME businesses struggle to attract the right talent - in most cases, they become victims of traditional job descriptions rather than having conversations around the exact nature of the business problem that has created the demand. Our alpha launch has involved working with businesses to detail their business problem and then actually connecting them with an expert - fractional who works towards delivering the outcome. We have used off the shelf packaged software with large amounts of manual intervention and interaction. We want to increase the self service and automation components - integrating LLMs and Gen AI along with intuitive AI as a part of scaling up

Connection to cross-cutting areas

The platform will become a tool for the demand side automation and digitalising the same. Coupled with the use of LLMs and intuitive UX/CX, businesses can focus on business problem solution by moving away from traditional model including full time hires and consultancy models - which can be expensive for the SME market.

Input

This will be a collaborative exercise where we will spend time with the students to cover off the learnings from our launch till date and discuss our own thoughts in terms of where the technology and automation piece can be applied. We will also like to look at the feasibility and the process of training existing off the shelf LLMs versus the ones available including GPT4 and Claude.ai

Expectations

The project objectives include:
Carrying out literature and market review work in order to appreciate strengths and limitations of existing solutions and identify gaps in the market;
Understanding user requirements, expectations, and potential barriers to adoption;
Designing high-quality wireframes of digital interfaces meeting clear user requirements;
Evaluating the design with end users and stakeholders.

Desired Team Profile

Familiarity with iterative User Centred Design processes, UX/UI best practices, and agile design techniques. Awareness of expert systems and generative AI. A flexible mindset to design interfaces for rapid evaluation with users. A proactive attitude and excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Information

The traditional models used by firms is hiring full time staff via recruitment agencies or using consulting firms. Both can go wrong and cost in terms of time and money. They will be the biggest competitors who will be disrupted as we become more mainstream. All the focus for the last few years has been around using tech to improve hiring/matching processes. There has been very minimal focus on the demand side - including problem definition and articulation leading to the demand. Also the idea of fractional specialists while very intuitive and logical is still not main-stream, but with tools for businesses to narrow down the ask, will make fractional a widely accepted choice.
